Love is giving rather then taking something. So love includes devotion and sacrifices that makes it divine. Generally love is taken as synonyms of "selfless" and upto some extent it is.
Never do such sacrifices which can leads you at depreciation state unless strictly needed. Because if you sacrifice for some one which makes you fall will lead you to non deserving candidate for your beloved one i.e. you may not be capable enough to take care or give enormous happiness to beloved one, what he/she deserves.
